The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
is a hierarchical organization. Its fifteen million-plus members are organized
into local congregations known as Wards and Branches. A Bishop assisted by two Counselors presides over each Ward. A Branch President and two Counselors preside over a branch. Several Wards and Branches, usually between five and twelve, are grouped together to form a Stake. Stakes are led by
a Stake President assisted by two Counselors and twelve men forming a Stake
High Council. A number of Stakes form an Area of the church
which is presided over by an Area President assisted by two counselors and
several Area Seventies.
Each of these men... Branch, Ward, Stake, and Area
Authorities... has a defined geographic area of responsibility. Other
leaders such as District Presidencies, Mission Presidencies, and Temple
Presidencies likewise have a delimitation of authority and responsibility.
But at the apex of the earthly hierarchy of
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are the First Presidency
and other General Authorities. These men, who provide overall leadership
to a worldwide church, are called by revelation and the Laying On of Hands
to their high and holy offices. They are called from the most experienced
and spiritual men in The Church... men who commune with God daily and receive
guidance and direction from Him.
They are giants. It is to our General Authorities
that these pages are dedicated.
There are two ways to search out
a General Authority on these pages. Below are Links to the several callings
in the Church which constitute the General Authorities. Just Click

and the years during which the position was held.
